Lawrenceville Director Appointed to State Nonprofit Board

Lisa McKnight Elected to Serve on Georgia 811 Board of Directors

Lisa McKnight

LAWRENCEVILLE (METRO ATLANTA) GA – February 8, 2017

The City of Lawrenceville proudly announces that Lisa McKnight, Director of Damage Prevention, has been elected to the Georgia 811 Board of Directors and is currently serving a 3-year term. The Board is chosen through a voting process by the Board Members of Georgia 811. Board Members represent all members of Georgia 811 to bring a constituency and community perspective to the organization.

Georgia 811 is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to preventing damage to Georgia’s underground utilities and promoting public safety. 811 is the national phone number designated by the Federal Communications Commission that connects professionals and homeowners who plan to dig with their local call center. Encouraging homeowners and contractors to call 811 before they dig is first step in the damage prevention process.

“I would like to thank Georgia 811 member companies for the opportunity to use my industry knowledge to serve Georgia’s residents at an even greater capacity,” said Lisa McKnight. “I am eager to utilize my experience in both compliance and enforcement in the public and private utility sectors in order to be an effective member for the board.”

McKnight’s experience includes nine years with the Georgia Public Service Commission where she led efforts to prevent third party damages to underground utilities. With emphasis on Community Safety and Damage Prevention, she served as Lead Investigator to enforce both state and federal gas pipeline safety regulations.

“The City of Lawrenceville is very fortunate to be represented state-wide by such strong leadership and talent,” said Chuck Warbington, City Manager. “We are confident that Lisa will be an influential member of the Georgia 811 Board of Directors.”

The Georgia 811 board includes members from the various types of organizations they serve, such as telecommunications, natural gas, electric, water sewer, cable and municipalities, as well as call center leadership. The Board of Directors meets quarterly to make key decisions regarding policies, center operations and budgets.
